Build Videos

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

We just completed the instructional build videos for the Ghost Kit. That means we are one step closer to shipping the kits : )

The instructions are in a 3-part series. These videos will walk you through the assembly of the kit. When your kit arrives, lay out all the parts and watch these videos to aid in the assembly.  You can view them on our website here: http://sicvisuals.com/build-videos-kit/

I got a vision, a sense of more…

A vision of a RED Ghost rapping, tapping at my office door…

New Version of The Ghost

The-New-Ghost-wide-view

We are proud to share the new version of the Ghost. This is  the model we are releasing for kickstarter backers and any future customers.

The Ghost can now easily hold 5lbs with the new motors. The new motors also have covers to keep them protected from the elements.

We designed a new camera plate with more attachment points.

The vertical adjusters are now carbon fiber rods, which are stronger and easier to adjust than in the prototype.

We have quick adjust nobs for raising and lowering the camera height to obtain perfect balance in a shorter amount of time.

Carbon Fiber Parts

You know you’ve married a nerd when:

1. You hear a shout of glee from the other room and when you peek in, he’s standing over a pile of carbon fiber.

2. He’s still standing over the carbon fiber when you check on him an hour later.

3. He says, “Isn’t this carbon fiber sexy?”

4. That smile he’s wearing the next day…yeah, that’s still from the carbon fiber.

Okay, for reals, folks. Enough making fun of my husband. These carbon fiber parts are fresh off the machine and ready for assembly!

The Ghost is Coming Alive

Everything with the Ghost is coming alive. The new motors are finished and I think everyone is going to love them. They have a slick black cover, which is an upgrade from any of the prototypes you have seen. Now, your motors are protected from the elements.

The control boards are still about a few weeks out, but we’ve also been busy manufacturing the other parts of the Ghost.

We are developing our online store, so pre-ordering will soon be available.. You will be able to purchase any extras on there if you didn’t get around to it on kickstarter. The store is still about a week or two out.

We had a really windy day in Missoula, so I decided to test out the Ghost in some not so favorable conditions. We had gust up to 17mph, so the flight was short and sweet. The cinetestar was getting pushed around quite a bit, but the Ghost remained nice and stable. Stay tuned for more updates this week.

Production Begins!!!

Kickstarter ended and we had a really strong finish raising 805% of our goal. After kickstarter ends, the funds aren’t instant, but we received enough of the money to place some orders. We just got a shipment of carbon fiber in, so production of the Ghost is underway. We have ordered the motors as well, but they are about a month out. The motors have covers and a new wind that offers a bit more torque.

We have also made some design changes that I think you’ll really like. The vertical camera adjustment worked well on the prototype, but it was the weakest spot of the gimbal and harder to adjust. We are replacing the thin, vertical adjustment bars, with carbon fiber rods and a quick adjust system. I also designed a new camera mounting plate that spans the whole width. This eliminates the lower carbon fiber rod, which had a tendency to rotate when adjusting. These pieces are currently being produced, so we don’t have photos of them right now.

The Ghost Stand

We are now selling the Ghost Stand. There is a new pledge level on our Kickstarter of $135 for the stand. The stand will ship for free with your Ghost purchase. After kickstarter ends we will sell the Ghost Stand on our web store located here: Store.

The stand supports up to 25lbs and only weights 27oz. The stand is constructed out of carbon fiber and aluminum and is also collapsible, making it easy for travel or storage. This stand allows you to easily adjust the Ghost, swap out cameras, lenses, or provides a safe place to set it while not in use.

3rd Motorized Axis

Just finished the motorized 3rd axis for the Ghost. Still two weeks left on our kickstarter and we are offering this upgrade for free. In order to get the 3rd axis up an running the control boards had to be re-designed. We now have an additional control board for the 3rd Axis, new motor, and some additional carbon fiber plates to hold everything in place.

You guys are going to love having a motorized 3rd axis. This opens the doors for several more options of operation. You can leave it in normal mode, so the gimbal stays straight and level wherever you go. You can use “follow mode” so the gimbal follows your movements. You can set up a second operator to control the Ghost movements. Or, you can just disconnect it and have it operate freely like a bearing joint.
